Best Bars in Waunakee

Mike Heller met Kari in September of 2010. The two would frequently meet Mike’s friends and family at Red & White wine bar in Appleton. The couple liked the atmosphere and thought about how they should open their own. A few years went by, and the idea fell to the wayside. After years of visiting bars, in July 2019, the couple found a wine bar with self-pouring machines and “a simple (not pretentious) fun vibe.”

Not a week after this outing, Kari found a space available on Main Street in Waunakee. Despite the possible setbacks “at any turn, that never happened.” Fall 2019 was action packed for The Heller’s; signed the lease in September, received their license in October, and opened for business on December 5, 2019. The two look forward to “what is around the next corner.” Visit Red & White Winebar to “drink up, kick back, & hang out.”

Kevin Abercrombie and Paul Kozlowski (known as “Kev and Koz”) met in Chicago where they attended Illinois Institute of Technology. “A country boy from Ohio and a city boy from Chicago” bonded over their mutual love “for family, friends, and beer.” While working at bars and restaurants, the two talked about what they’re going to do.

As the years went on, they both got married and had children. Seven children, to be exact, between the two. Funny enough, out of seven kids, there is only one girl – The Lone Girl. The name represents “family and friends, the things we care about most, our community and the cherished memories we make together.”

BRIX 340 has a vast collection of white, red, sparkling, port, and dessert. You can additionally purchase wine by the bottle off the menu or in store. Likewise, BRIX 340 separates itself from other bars by allowing customers to order online and pick up at BRIX! BRIX features wines “from all over the world” to offer “a unique tasting experience.” Tony Koeck, owner of BRIX 340, wants “to offer wines that are hard to find.”

Koeck is constantly on the prowl with his distributors to keep his shelves stocked with the most exclusive wine bottles. BRIX isn’t just a winebar, though; Koeck keeps more than 100 whiskies on site. Patrons can find “some of the best Bourbons, Rye, Irish Whiskeys, and Single Malt Scotch’s in the area!” Stop in and try local Wisconsin beer, monthly handcraft cocktails, and live music every weekend! Keep your eyes peeled for the next wine tasting, whiskey tasting, and wine bingo!

Par Bar is family owned and operated. Garett, the owner, loves golf, and wanted to keep golfing through the winter. His idea was simple; “a place for golfers to spend the winters working on their game while enjoying good food and great company!”

Unlike other bars, Par Bar provides three Full Swing simulators (the authorized simulators of the Golf Channel). Full Swing simulators are “the most accurate camera-based simulators on the market.” With more than 90 courses to choose from (including TPC Sawgrass and Torrey Pines), come experience the courses any day of the year “with the best graphics available.”

Single golfers can swing for $25 per hour Tuesday through Sunday. Groups of two of more swing for $35 per hour Tuesday through Thursday and Fridays from 8 AM to 4 PM. Groups of two or more golf for $50 per hour on Fridays from 4 PM to close, Saturday, and Sunday.
